Observation details
Two Cooper's Hawks at the same location where a pair bred 2 years ago. Bothe were calling. I saw them copulate then one individual flew onto a wire above my head and called (recording). The light was low and I didn't have binoculars but the calling bird had the vertical heavy streaks of a juvenile bird. The other appeared to have adult plumage. They were too far apart for me to judge sex by relative size. The calling bird over my head then broke a twig off of a tree and flew with it into a nearby pine with thick foliage. I believe it's the same tree the breeding pair from two years ago used. I need to get a better look to determine the age and sex of the birds.
