Observation details
Amazing find and id by Ellen Plane and Alison Su earlier in the day. Large fairly drab sparrow with plain breast, but showed intricate maroon pattern to upper parts and a subtle facial pattern. Refound in blackberries on the side of the spit by Sharon while I was present. It then flew from one coyote bush to another, mostly staying deep inside the bushes and not moving much. However, it sang several times, and eventually popped up for a fantastic view before flying off to the east where the large group of birders present lost it and could not refind it.
