Observation details
Continuing* Arrived at the beach around 11:30, but because of the driving wind and rain I wasn't able to leave my car and scope the water for more than a couple minutes at a time. Left at 12:30 to check Crescent Beach and Owl's Head -- and then returned at 1:30 after the rain had tapered off. After a further 40 minutes, I saw the grebe diving about a 1/4 mile from the beach and 50 yards N of Little Island (or roughly equidistant between that island and the tidal rocks S of Ginn Pt). Large, dark-backed grebe with a long, snaky neck and a slim yellow bill. Clean, sharp neck/throat border extending to the lores. Doc pics.
