Observation details
Seen with Keith Maley - the following is a slightly modified version of his ebird comment along with my pics. The pics are cropped only - no other edits. If anyone wants the originals please let me know as I'm happy to share. A possible WHITE-TAILED EAGLE flew over Battery Godfrey today at 12:58 PM crossing north into Marin just west of the Golden Gate Bridge. First spotted by John Facchini in the distance southeast of Battery Godfrey, we determined it was an eagle as it flew closer to our position, and Keith remarked that the tail looked messed up-- seemed stumpier relative to the body and had less white than it should. Noting the pale head, we assumed Bald Eagle, took a few photos and watched it cross. Eddie Monson texted Keith the evening of 3/15 after seeing Keith's eBird photo suggesting it could be a White-tailed Eagle, and that seems to be the emerging consensus. Other experts have confirmed the ID.
