Observation details

I was dumping brush in a ditch in my woods and I bumped a bird, it was flying a head of me and landed on a branch. So I got a good look at the bird, color, mannerism, and I heard its call. I was surprised to see it this early, but we have had an unusually warm spring. I did continue to hear it call throughout the afternoon while working outside. I have been tracking spring arrivals since 2004 on my property in SW Iowa. In 2023 the Phoebe arrived 3/31/23. In 2022 it arrived on 3/25/22. In 2021 it arrived on 3/21/21. In 2020 it arrived on 3/17/20. In 2019 it arrived on 3/22/19.
