Observation details
Rare (wintering north of expected range). No previous PEC eBird records for January, February or March. Earliest spring observation is last week of April (5 weeks away) so safe to conclude this is an overwintering bird, first PEC eBird record of this behaviour. Seen at sunrise in the cattail marsh along the east beach berm, a location that typically has water seeps through the cold months and held two Swamp Sparrows this winter. Photographed.
