Observation details
Adult. Regular, nearly resident Trepassey individual. Has unusually heavily streaked head. Could be Greenland race photos. Streaking this heavy on a Glaucous Gull is unusual on a Newfoundland Glaucous Gull especially this late in the season. The head streaking was significantly heavier in mid winter. The bird is 5 years old having first being seen as a one year old bird over the summer in Trepassey area. It has spent most of each year since in the Trepassey area. Personally I suspect this bird is a vagrant/lost GLGU from Greenland or somewhere else in Europe where GLGU have more heavily streaked heads than NF winter GLGUs.
