Observation details
Rare (early). Large white goose with black wing tips. Single group, heard in the distance as sharper, barkier honk, searched the sky frantically and fortunately their line of travel was directly overhead, so eventually got a good look. Birds flying from west to east, probably heading to spring staging areas in the lower Ottawa Valley (this is different than most migrant Canada Goose flocks which bear more directly north from across Lake Ontario). Photographed (flock sized derived from careful count of birds in images).
