Observation details
One immature male and one adult male today. In the early morning, the young male was most frequently seen around the third lagoon inlet. While there was still shade on the S. nivalis tree, the young male would only visit for a few seconds before moving on to other flowers in the area, as if there was no nectar available. Maybe the sun had to hit the tree before nectar starts flowing? After the sun crested the ridge and hit the tree (8:30ish), helmetcrests and the female thornbill began working the tree more frequently and methodically for much longer periods.
