Observation details
Stubby bill, short neck (evident especially when it put its head down to feed—straighter vs. the bend in a Canada’s), smaller than Canadas, steeper forehead. Not particularly dark-breasted. I believe this is Richardson’s, but open to taking out the subspecies id if reviewers disagree. Found yesterday by Erik Zilinek. One was nearby at Warner’s Pond in February, potentially the same bird? Photos tba, but posting now so others looking see the note. Stayed 10 minutes or less at school Street—later group of geese to fly in—but I think it may have gone to fields in Weatherbee, just north of route 2. I saw it fly out and it looked like it was dropping down there, but I didn’t actually find it in the scope from School Street. Rain and fog limited visibility.
