Observation details
Walking the Ranotsara trail, we found two different pairs of Wood Rails during our six hour walk. The first pair was found at -19.0321300, 44.7738261 about ten minutes into our walk responding to playback. The other pair was seen on the trail in front of us at -19.0224640, 44.7769006 after a few hours hiking. The birds were extremely confiding, showing no concern at all for our presence. The species is clearly abundant here, and visiting the park from Bekopaka should produce sightings of the birds.
