Observation details
audio was sent to ornithologist Tim Spahr who ID'd these as type 4. individually counted. had multiple counts, never less than 20 and high count 0f 30 in view at once. birds moving around a lot. initially heard the birds and just as I located them they all flew out of pines into more open areas. Seemed to be feeding mostly in planted Shortleaf Pine, although other pine species were also present. I followed the birds around for quite a while, watching them feeding in pines and resting in deciduous trees. Was also able to watch the birds twice come down to water. photos to be added. After reviewing photos I noticed that some birds were also feeding in Virginia Pines. Merlin app did not identify RECR in any of my recordings. Birdnet had low probability but had RECR as best guess on one recording and incredibly low probability on another.
