Observation details
One adult and three younger birds in various stages of molting to adult plumage. Photos. After about an hour of searching around the southeast corner of the pond and the nearby neighborhood across the street, two birds flew into a mostly bare tree at (38.540694, -121.575917) from the west, joining a flock of goldfinches and sparrows. After a minute they took off headed north and flew all the way past the Amazon warehouse, but they returned about ten minutes later with another two birds, periodically dropping down behind the fence and coming back up with seeds. I'm betting they make a circuit through all the feeders in the neighborhood, so finding them is a matter of hanging around until they come to you.
