Inspecting cavity in dead ponderosa pine.
Observation details
Unmistakable clown face, black and white, plus red on head. From behind, black plus the red on the head. From below, black giving way to gray belly. Showed white wing patches in flight. Female with black forehead, male with white forehead. Both were just east (uphill) from wildlife tank. The female was working dead ponderosas; my photo shows her Inspecting a cavity in one of them (for a nest?). The male was working dead scrub oaks. Will post photos of each.
