Observation details
First-cycle individual in roosting flock of gulls at the northern tip of the beach. Overall coffee colored plumage with a more pot-bellied appearance than the nearby HERG. It was also a bit smaller than the HERGS with a very rounded head making it look pigeon-like. The primaries were dark brown with distinct pale edging. The folded wing also showed brown centered tertials. The bill was noticeably smaller/thinner and almost completely black. In flight, undersides of primaries were silvery with small black tips. Broad brown secondary bar also obvious in flight.
