Observation details
I was surprised to step outside about 7 am to hear the ticking of the Selasphorus. She was perched in the mountain laurel. . Must have just missed her all day yesterday. Not visiting the feeder. Finally around 9 when Rajiv was here she perched in a shin oak and later I saw her buried in the mountain laurel where I got a good enough look to confirm it was the same bird. Recording to be added. Edit: Unfortunately the recording of the bird is faint, and while I can see the long vertical line on the Merlin recording, it does not show up on eBird. If you listen beyond the wren, titmouse and goldfinch you can hear it. I've attached a photo of the sound recording. It closely matches the chip on the Peterson Field Guide to Bird Sounds in the Cornell Lab Bird Academy.
