Media notes
This was when I first saw the murre.
Observation details
I was observing the gulls at this stop when I spotted the murre. Winds were strong southerlies & this poor bird was grounded on the pavement. I wasn’t prepared to help and I was afraid to leave it vulnerable to all the gulls nearby. Thankfully, Denise was home and was able assist in rescuing it, bringing gloves and a box to contain it until we could get to a save place to release it.... when we arrived at the Gravels, we had to wait until there were no gulls flying over the water. From there, once in the water, it began to swim out. When a ways out, a GBBG flew over it and when it came close to the murre, the murre did a flip and the gull just kept going and didn’t return...the murre kept making its way out further into the bay. We dearly hope it makes it.
