Media notes
A Great Spinetail was consistently giving this vocalization spontaneously from (verdant-now) thorn scrub on the slope at their breeding area N of San Marcos, 2630m. The site was near -7.310684, -78.195199. I’ve listed it under the nearby San Marcos hotspot. Background includes: Fulvous-faced Scrub-Tyrant, Striped Cuckoo, House Wren, and probable Andean Flicker. Recorded using an Edirol R09 with a Sennheiser ME67 & foam windscreen.
Observation details
One bird was singing persistently--as it turned out, it was near a well-hidden, big stick nest in a gray-leafed acacia-like thorn tree no more than 100m from the bus. We didn't see the bird actually go to the nest, but it was likely one of the "owners". Recordings.
