Observation details
The reason why I stayed extra time after the five-minute count - three appeared, flying and dipping together at start, but only two stayed in area. Watched the two put on an aerial display: circling low over a small area, flying together almost in unison, swooping towards the ground and then up, over and over - while maintaining an almost constant weird, trembling "bwaa-bwaa-bwaa-bwaa-bwaa" call (Cornell labels it a "bleating-whinny"), along with rolling purrs. After about ten minutes, they finally disappeared onto the ground, from where one began singing a couple of typical low "toad trill" songs. Pretty awesome show!! [Personal note…after seven years and about eight months (!!!), I finally just now (Feb 26, 2024) refound this recording on an old phone, and added it to this list].
