Observation details
continuing bird, identified by voice. while driving down road, spotted bird on wire that I studied for a bit and concluded it was the western meadowlark (all around paler), but the bird was silent. almost immediately an ATV drove fast down the road and flushed the bird. I drove up closer to where I saw the bird and could hear it clearly on the west side of the road, despite a lot of wind noise. Scanned the cornfield for a long time, hearing the bird constantly, but couldn't locate it. Very possible it was just below a small hill to the west. Eventually the bird flew back to the wire, some distance in front of me, and sat there fairly close to an AMKE for quite a while. Bird was much more vocal on the wire the second time, and I was able to watch and listen to the bird for at least 15 minutes before it flew back down far to the west. location was a little bit south of the ponds, closer to the small pull off on the west side of the road.
