Observation details
basic plumage, on the beach just north of Judah. initially solitary at water's edge, then flew north and joined a group of Sanderlings. I watched this bird at close range for several minutes - was pretty tame! - but don't see that many dowitchers these days and am not that well versed in the subtleties of of the structural and plumage characters for identification of dowitchers in basic. I took a series of photos with my smartphone, just in case; I'll leave it to others to see if these have any utility (beyond documenting 'Limnodromus sp.'). finally it called once while standing on the beach, a quick tu-tu. at that point I started a Merlin recording, slowly walked towards it, and it called again as it took flight and headed up the beach.
