Observation details
Continuing mega rarity found by Tim Oksiuta. Large robin, with a mostly yellow bill, gray head with black in front of the eyes, light yellow eyering, whitish throat with heavy dark streaking down to a solid dark necklace, streaking from throat continuing down and splitting into heavy spots around a white center chest and belly, warm brown back, gray upper tail to black tail, white underwing coverts, gray remiges, light scaling on undertail coverts. Obviously not American Robin. Streaking, white underwing coverts, and black tail rule out Rufous-backed Robin. Bird arrived from the west (Bayfield Co) around 7:25, quickly worked its way to the east across the field near the first two houses on Junction Ave. Almost constantly in motion, chasing anything near by, such as European Starlings, Blue Jays, and an American Robin. It would rarely sit in the same spot for more than 10 seconds. Sometimes flying out across the powerlines. It crossed to the north side of the dirt road around 8:16. It flew back across to the southwest around 8:19. We thought it likely gone, though did hear it briefly a few minutes later. Bruce refound it further to the west on the north side of the powerline cut in Bayfield Co around 8:50. It was much more sedentary, moving only a few times during the next 20 minutes. It did sit in the top of a tree and began vocalizing. Around 9:10, it flew further west down the powerline cut. First record for WI, and the 9th record for the US as best I can tell. To my knowledge first time it has been recorded withing the US and 4th time for the continent. Edit: 5 additional Alaska records I missed initially. Note: keeping this comment the same across the two checklists to keep a full narrative in case someone only sees one list or t'other. Recordings only in the Bayfield list
