Observation details
Continuing adult. Edited comments upon further review and contact from Jake Cvetas about the initial sighting we had of a pale gull with low contrast wing markings seen mostly in Columbia Co. This gull was smaller than the HERGs. Upon further review of Jake's photos (I have yet to examine mine but have no doubt we were all following and photographing the same pale gull around 1300) that this first pale gull was indeed an Iceland Gull and not the GWGU. Glad I stuck around for real GWGU to come closer to the dam where I was able to document its identifying fieldmarks seen for the incredible close views in company of Kristen and Mark Schmidt, Jim Schwarz, Martin K and his birding friend.
