Observation details
Update from previous notes: Looking more like an odd Common Ground Dove. The call remains very different from other ground doves in this area. _______________ Original Notes: COGD/INDO ??? This is the second time hearing this odd call - the first time I heard it was about a week ago but couldn't find the bird. Today we got eyes on the bird. Observed perched in dense foliage and singing. Brown/Grey overall, very grey head. Tail narrow- similar to a MODO with white outer rectrices - Bi-color bill cream colored base with a dark charcoal grey/black tip - Observed a few large dark spots on the wing similar to COGD. The overall size was not as small as a COGD - slim body - eye color red Recording notes: The call is similar to the two notes sequence of an INDO. However, the first note is shorter than the last while in INDO the first note is longer than the last. Will attempt to get photos
