Observation details
FIRST WASHINGTON COUNTY EBIRD RECORD!! This male bird in 1st-winter-plumage was diving for food in my neighbor's pond on Spoolmill Road. This pond has several, white, domestic ducks and is bordered by cattails. I don't know how deep the pond is. I never saw him surface with food. See my voucher photos. This male was alone. Most records of wintering COGOs are along the coast in Bay and neighboring counties. You can see that this young male is starting to develop his white facial circle.
