Observation details
(34.1299573, -117.7944637) Scott heard the bird call when we first entered the large open grassy field full of sunflowers so we went counterclockwise over towards the grove of pine trees and walked around, and Scott heard the bird a second time, which was when we got audio recordings and photos of it. This bird is a greenish grayish version of a Black Phoebe without the obvious demarcations where the white and black end. Instead, this bird has a dark face and dark eyes and a small, dark bill, that transitions into a paler throat and smudgy chest with no clear pattern. The bird was singing, and it was clearly not the song of either a Black Phoebe, or a Say’s Phoebe albeit closer to Black Phoebe.
