Observation details
Wow wow wow! Absolute STUNNER of a bird. Huge thank you to Kristin and David for finding and reporting such a gorgeous and charismatic bird. Adult male. Vibrantly colored all over with tropical-vibe fluorescent blues and greens on the bird's back and underside. Bicolored bill, red at the base blending to black towards the tip. Dark tail. Somewhat well-defined white supercilium over the eye. Vocalizing often, especially when feeding. The bird's call sounded tonally quite similar to the call of a Ruby-crowned Kinglet (even the cadence and "phrasing" of the notes were somewhat similar). But the hummingbird's call was slightly lower-pitched than Ruby-crowned Kinglet. See the original posts from the homeowners to gain permission to visit.
