Observation details
A Caribbean endemic and counterpart to the more familiar American Robin. Six subspecies are recognized of which "T. p. ardosiaceus" is found in Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. It lacks the black throat and orange belly of the others. Along with a similar population on Dominica it forms a subspecies group and candidates for possible future splitting. Formerly placed in the genus "Mimocichla."
