Observation details

It was a productive day for observing crossbill activity. I captured images of several flocks of crossbills perched in pine trees at different times and locations throughout the day. Upon reviewing the recordings, the spectrogram patterns of their flight calls and excitement calls appear to correspond with type 5. The flight call orientation slightly tilts from the top-left to bottom-right. Type 5 calls are characterized by a distinctive twangy clip-clip-clip sound. To my ear, seems about right.
