Observation details

1x1 count. Males engaging in some early courtship display, groups of males following females around, surrounding solitary females, throwing heads up and back, making a chittering/mummur type noise, chasing away other males. Females would occasionally confront males, looking at them and raising up heads in a stiff type posture, causing the males to back off and retreat. I would say 75-80% of raft was just resting, heads tucked, while the other 20-25% was engaging in this behavior, and the majority of those were male with a few females being displayed to. Around 5-6 males would surround 1 female. I did observe a male and female swim away together side by side with a few males following them. Audio recordings not great due to ambient noises, but I did my best to record the mummuring noises they were making.
