GLCU center. ICGUs to left (sleeping), behind (preening), and 3 to right.
Observation details
Heavy pink bill with black tip. Heavy chested and almost purely white body and wings as it flew past going west as we neared the point. Refound later at HH as the very high tide forced most of the gulls onto a tiny patch of sand near the north end. Slightly larger than HERGs and much larger and with stubbier primaries than ICGUs that were standing next to it. Distances and light make it difficult to determine 1st vs 2nd cycle. Eyes look dark in all of the photos (possible lightness in the flight photos) but given the bright clean look, no detectable patterning on the scaps, no sign of a light triangle on the bill tip and some 2nd cycles can have dark eyes (or it has light eyes and the photos don't show it) it probably is a 2nd cycle. No hint of brown or black in the primaries to rule out hybrid. Photos.
