Observation details
At dawn we staked out location where dove was last seen the night before as it went to roost (near green buoy outside toll booth). At 7:45am the dove dropped onto the grass from heavy cover, and began feeding with sparrows and juncos. It was visible on and off for about 20 minutes allowing us to photograph it. Very small dove with scaly head and short tail. During a couple of it's brief flights, we were able to see it's rufous primaries and wing linings.
