Observation details
*Rare, Continuing. Found Jan 23, 2024 Very likely the same bird that was spotted at Peace Valley Reservoir on Jan 13. Was also seen at Bombay Hook NWR on Feb 2, possibly a nighttime roost location. Swimming and resting with Canadas. Appeared wary of humans and moved away with flock when people approached from other side of pond. Presumed to be a wild bird. No banding or cut web. Smaller than Canada Geese with a stubbier bill. Black neck extending onto chest. White face with dark lore. Sides were whitish. Back feathers grey with black edging, creating a barred look. Waited five years for this species after missing it in Coatesville Reservoir in Dec 2018. Lifer.
