Media notes
Flight calls from ones seen feeding in red pines. These ones flew away from the red pine tree.
Observation details
See audio for Type-2 shaped flight calls. Confirmed by Tim Spahr, Finch Research Network. Uploaded several recordings, have several more, all are type 2 (for the ones with flight calls, some others had "toop" excitement calls). The first bird recorded with flight calls landed and then started singing. A single red crossbill seen later feeding on white pine seed. Had several singles to triples flying around, then a group of RECR seen feeding on red pine cones. Also a large flyover group that kept going. Captured flight calls of all the ones feeding and all were Type 2. Mixed woods with softwood and hardwood, the dominant conifer at this location is red pine, also with white pine and some hemlock.
