Observation details

Nest with three young discovered by accident: I quickly stopped the moto to check out a woodpecker that flew across the road in front of us. As we stood there, one of the boys asked, “what kind of baby birds are these?” There was a hole about 1.2m up from the ground, in a tree right in front of where we were standing! I hadn’t even noticed it. So I peered in and took a picture, then we quickly moved away. The two adult woodpeckers were in a nearby tree, with food in their bills, waiting to make a food delivery. Will add pictures of the nest and young to this checklist later.
