Observation details
Large, stout-bodied, red-eyed dove with rich rusty edges to the dark-centered mantle and covert feathers. Grey breast with a gentle gradient to brown all with a slight rose wash. Rump a solid dark grey and squared-off tail a darker grey with a minimal off-white terminal band, underside black with a wide pale grey terminal band. Tail feather length differed considerably. Incomplete striped neck collar, which terminated just before the line of the eye (or, half-way along the neck) and obvious molt limit in the coverts point to SY. Dwarfed the MODO that would occasionally perch in the same redwood. Appeared larger and definitely stockier than the EUCD.
