Circling up and followed a DCCO over the dam
Observation details
*** rare 🔴; overdue 1st for Hamilton county! Small, very black cormorant with thinner neck than the nearby 3 double-crests and striking silver cheek ornament. Dark lores and thin white triangle at base of bill distinctive with a good scope view. The bird was originally swimming towards all the red cranes below the dam overlook but after about 10 minutes it took off and flew downriver above the highway, presumably to go to roost. In flight, the longer tail made it more + shaped than the DCCO, with the tail about as long as the neck. Hopefully it will return in the morning...
