Observation details
A large, pale gull among the horde. Looked to be more of an adult-ish bird (I think Aidan said it was third-cycle), with a distinctly pale iris. We initially called this a pure Glaucous Gull, but as the lighting fluctuated with the cloud coverage, the wingtips showed just enough gray to point towards a hybrid. Still, with the bi-colored bill (a pale yellowish color on the basal half and black towards the tip), the bulky structure, and the general paleness, we guessed that this bird was, genetically, at least three-fourths part Glaucous Gull.
