Observation details
Minimum, just past culvert. Marginal recordings. First heard gidjit calls but I dismissed it as my over-eager imagination. Then saw a kinglet (tiny, bouncy, olive back, wingbars) loosely associating with chickadees, and on closer inspection I saw that it had a plain face with a hint of a white eyering... but no dark eyebrows or golden crown. Responded to playback with curiosity and came back a few minutes later with high-pitched introductory notes of song. (Aside: I was surprised to find SO many species singing/ duetting today... it sure didn't feel like spring.) I sat down and caught many glimpses and calls over the next 30+ minutes. Could be 2-3 birds but I'll leave the count at 1 because my vision has been pretty unstable all week and I couldn't simultaneously hear multiple calling.
