Observation details
3 adult males, 3 immature males, and 4 females. Split into three different groups and actively feeding in the boiling surf, generally in shallower water than the Black Scoter. Photos of at least seven individuals. This is the largest flock I’ve ever encountered on the East End of Long Island. In general, this has been a good winter for the Harlies up and down the island. Would be curious to know what numbers have been like at traditional hotspots in RI and NJ.
