Observation details
At approximately 4:55 this afternoon Doug Krajnovich and I saw this kingbird near the canal at the south end of the park. Doug had seen it earlier in the day at approximately 12:30 PM. This kingbird was first seen at Lake Yosemite by Doug on November 12, 2023, making today Day 75 at Lake Yosemite. Lately this kingbird has not been seen during the afternoon until close to dusk. A recent report from UC Merced suggests that the bird may be there during the afternoons. We watched it flycatching from a small tree across the canal, then fly to a larger tree inside the park fence where it gave a few trilling calls and settled in for the night.
