Observation details
I went out to take photos after a heavy rain. I started hearing a call that I couldn’t identify. Merlin wasn’t picking it up, so I ignored it. Then I realized it had changed locations and was closer to me. Merlin still didn’t identify it. I found a scrappy looking barred owl, probably a male based on its size. After flying a short distance twice, it’s settled on a branch and still continued this very mewing type sound. I watched it for about 30 minutes then I left.
