Observation details
Of the 20 white geese with black primaries flying about twice height of nearby transmission towers, one was so small that it stood out clearly from the flock. ROGO body length and wingspan differs from SNGO by only 5-8", but ROGO weight is about half that of SNGO, offering a strong difference in general impression even from several hundred yards away. Photo obtained at bad angle with birds flying away, but initially bird was seen oncoming and then directly overhead, offering excellent view from directly below the bird. At that angle and distance, head barely discernible from end of neck, unlike SNGO with larger head shape in flight. In photo ROGO is second bird from right.
