Consecutive cuts of a Mountain Pygmy-Owl singing from the riparian shortly upstream from Cypress Campground. Background includes mobbing species and some distant song: Am. Robin, Painted Redstart, Plumbeous Vireo, Rivoli’s Hummingbird; Black-chinned Hummingbird, Black-headed Grosbeak, and a 2nd N. Pygmy-Owl at the end. Recorded using an M-Audio MicroTrack 24/95 with a Sennheiser ME67 and foam windscreen.

= 3 = /18; /17 Northern Pygmy-Owl ::: Rucker Canyon June 12, 2006 ::: 3 /18; /17 Two birds, apparently counter-singing rather than a pair, at Cypress Campground, one vocal at 7:15 to 7:30 p.m. the night before, again briefly at 4:30 a.m., then more strongly with the other singing around 6:30 to 7:00 a.m.; the third, downstream at 1700m singing spontaneously at 9 a.m.
