Media notes
Heard a faint call and then 1 pipit just flew in and land on the rocks. Both pipits started walking closer to us. One of the best and up-close sighting of this species. Both wd trot stop, hop on a small rock and then get down walk-stop-hop on a rock.. Had great views of it stretching and showing off its flanks, rufous wash to the sides of the rump
Observation details
In the rocky and rubbley slopes at 13.372, 77.674. The area seemed perfect so I tried song playback, to which there was initially no response. But within a minute we noticed flight calls and two birds landed on the slope below us. They eventually came very close and gave brilliant views. Buff wash to vent and very faint streaks on throat/neck. Since they're unlikely to be using this patch when it's fully overgrown with grasses and shrubs, it's interesting to note how quickly they've occupied it after burning.
