Observation details
Spotted by Rachel seconds after we arrived, it was in flight and heading a bit south then banking west to glide smoothly over the highway. Did an s-curve and return to the pond area farther south and to the back. Fortunately a bit later it flew in and landed in what is being called it's usual spot on some downed branches sticking out of the water. Photos show adult P1 and P2, with P3 molting in. Combined with the white head makes this an SY (2023). Spent most of its time preening but did forage a little bit. Photos
