Observation details
Surprising!! First encountered atop signpost, studied at close range; later photographed and recorded while perched on low guard rail, calling repeatedly. Note large bill, deeply forked tail, absence of white edges in outer rectrices. Began giving characteristic call repeatedly late in afternoon following brief rain. These vocalization were recorded. Unexpected, but (thank you eBird users!) clearly seen and similarly identified by many observers recently, including earlier today.
