Observation details
Seen foraging on the ground near White-crowned Sparrows about 15 ft away from my location at 33.6540463, -117.8352389 (This is on the back trail, and east of the amphitheater). Somewhat shy bird, hid under toyon bushes any time a biker went past. The yellow supraloral marks caught my eye; black and white striped crown, with central stripe slightly tan. Cheek, breast and belly was gray. Throat was white with faint black outline of white. I will have an ID photo as soon as I get it off my memory card.
