Observation details
Continuing large loon with pale bill seen approximately here: (35.3831032, -104.2016721). Pale brown overall, much paler than COLOs. Face and neck whitish and head consistently held upwards at a ~15 degree angle. Bill massive and yellowish; gray culmen. The entire posture of the bird while actively foraging was forward-leaning, almost looking like it might tip forward into the water. Whitish scaling across its back/wings is indicative of a juvenile. NM state bird and my first in the Lower 48.
