Observation details
***rare from the shore this far south. Last night's heavy storm with strong southeast winds was responsible for blowing in these dovekies (along with many others across DE, MD, and NJ). The first bird was found within a few minutes of arrival in the inlet, on the ocean side of the bridge and closer to the south side. I lost the bird after sending a message to the Delaware GroupMe but I was able to refind it about three minutes later directly under the bridge. This was the bird that I photographed and videoed. I scoped two more birds approximately 100 meters beyond the jetty, and later, another bird with a slightly lighter plumage than the first bird, was seen swimming around the end of the north jetty.
